About KUF Training
The Knowledge and Understanding Framework (KUF) is a national training programme designed to develop the skills, competence and confidence of staff working across the health, criminal justice and voluntary sectors, enabling them to work more effectively with people with complex emotional needs, often associated with a diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’.
The National KUF Hub is a partnership between: West London NHS Trust, Anna Freud National Centre for Children & Families and University College, London.
The National KUF Hub is commissioned by Health Education England (HEE) on behalf of NHS England (NHSE) and Her Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS).
KUF is a fully co-produced and co-facilitated training programme with trainers with lived experience working alongside trainers with clinical/practitioner experience.
The National KUF Hub’s central task is to quality assure the KUF training programmes and to develop a ‘KUF Community’.
It does this by:
- Conducting a Training Needs Analysis
- Delivering KUF Train the Trainer programmes
- Developing a Trainer Competency Framework
- Developing robust evaluation strategies
- Providing regular networking events for KUF trainers
- Providing networking events for the wider KUF community
The National KUF Hub also aims to challenge the stigma and culture surrounding people with complex emotional needs.
It does this by:
- Raising awareness of the stigma associated with the diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’
- Setting educational standards
- Guiding strategy
- Influencing policy
